About the Department

The Department of Rural Development Management was founded in September 2009 under the Faculty of Agriculture at Yasouj University. Our establishment began with an inaugural cohort of seven Master's students in Rural Development, marking the start of our commitment to advancing this critical field.

Today, the department has grown into a vibrant academic community. We are supported by four dedicated full-time faculty members and one postdoctoral researcher, who mentor our dynamic student body of 31 doctoral candidates and 40 Master's students.

Our mission is threefold: to deliver rigorous academic programs, to pioneer actionable research, and to provide expert advisory services. We offer graduate degrees in Rural Development (M.Sc.), Agricultural Extension (M.Sc.), and Agricultural Development (Ph.D.), preparing the next generation of leaders and scholars to address complex challenges in rural spaces.

Research & Strategic Objectives

Our research agenda is strategically focused on generating impactful knowledge and solutions, with core objectives to:

• Address the pressing issues and challenges of rural and agricultural development within Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province.

• Foster collaborative partnerships with provincial executive organizations to conduct applied research that meets direct regional needs.

• Instill a robust research ethos and enhance the capacity for independent inquiry and guidance among our graduate students.

• Contribute to the global body of knowledge in rural development, agricultural development, rural/agricultural economics, and agricultural extension and education.

• Develop and disseminate practical, evidence-based strategies to improve key development indicators in rural communities across the province and nation.
